ĆEVAPČIĆI
Tough story of Balkans did not stop most of the orthodox people of this region to cultivate the native tradition of making meals in center of the house, on the hearth. This custom refers to family meetings in sundays or at slava - feast of the patron saint of the family, that is celebrated only by orthodox Serbs. The most delicious part of this tradition are known everywhere ćevapčići - served in 5 or 10 pieces characteristic meat rollers with unforgettable flavor, that will astonish every newcomer. Ćevapčići are made of minced pork and beef, seasoned with garlic and paprika, roasted on the grill, served in a bun with chopped onion. Ćevapčići is favourite meal not only in Serbia, but also in the rest of Balkans. There are roasted on grill meat rollers made of minced pork or mutton (in Bosnia) or pork and beef (Serbia and Macedonia). Usually served as a main dish, in a bun with chopped oniuon, cheese and local sauces.
